Things came to a full circle as we painted the town of Cadaques at our painting event after taking an excursion there yesterday!

Back in Barcelona, Spanish Language and Culture took a trip to the Picasso Museum, right in the heart of El Born, and a 15-minute walk from our beachside residence.
Students in the seminar discussed the evolution of Picasso’s work and how the artist took part in revolutionizing 20th century art. They enjoyed both experiencing Picasso’s works in person, as well as writing about how it affects culture.
Architecture began the day with a sketching exercise in the neoclassical baroque church of San Miguel del Porto. They then observed Barcelona’s port from the vantage point of Maremagnum. Making their way from the sea, we entered the Gothic quarter with the goal of understanding the Roman foundations of Barcelona. To better visualize this they visited the Temple de August and the Roman ruins underneath the Barcelona Museum of History.
Meanwhile, the Business Seminar teleported to Monjuic via the gondola 🚡overlooking the port then hiked to the castle to see just how big Barcelona’s import and export industry really is.
Last, but certainly not least, we have our Fashion & Culture seminar who went thrifting and shopping for fabric remnants to gather the materials they need to design and construct an “upcycled” garment during their upcoming studio session.
Upcycling is a sustainable method of creating new fashion out of existing clothes. Producing designs from what already exists rather than creating more new product in a world already saturated with too much clothing product.
Afternoon trip to Parc De La Ciutadella for boating on the lake, walking around the park and indulging in gelato!
