Art, Architecture, Urban Design Plans Barcelona!

This week, the Art, Architecture, and Urban Design students are taking Barcelona into their own hands! We learned about the unique elements of Barcelona’s grid system of octagonal blocks and how European cities are different than American ones by observing them in real life. We visited three different plazas: Plaza Reial, Plaza Sant Jaume, and Placa de la Seu/Plaza Nova. We created a plan of each plaza so we can better understand how to plan for the needs of a city and how each is used. Finally, we became city planners for the day! We created our own ideal plazas that included things like schools, residential buildings, and traffic plans.
