On Day 8 of their seminar, the photog group toured the inside of Casa Milà, another one of Gaudí’s masterpieces scattered around the city.
The Art & Architecture seminar visited the nearby Casa Battló to experience Gaudí’s oceanic masterpiece of domestic architecture.
In the afternoon, part of the group headed to L’Aquárium de Barcelona to take in carefully curated exhibits on the marine life that surrounds us in the Mediterranean.We got to see some pretty cool sharks!We finished off the day with a Red White and Blue relay race, which included some States trivia and labeling the body parts in Spanish. It culminated in an epic plank contest, which Ella W. absolutely dominated with a 5 minute hold!The next morning started off strong with an impromptu juggling lesson in the courtyard of the Resa.
The Business seminar jumped from discussions of Wall Street to the walls of Barcelona, taking a creative break to learn about and make Graffiti art.
Back in the Resa, the photo students engaged in their first critique.
The Spanish Language seminar paid a visit to Palo Alto Market in Poble Nou to continue practicing food vocabulary and negotiating with local vendors.
In the afternoon we gathered for Coffee Haus, where students showed off their talents in singing and playing the guitar … plus a hilarious rhyming poem dedicated to everybody’s favorite program assistant, Alex.
Andrea, Laurel, and Sophia treated us to a rendition of Sweater Weather.Peter and Lily performed a sonnet that had us in hysterics.Biagia showcased her harmonica skills, while her friends crooned Billy Joel’s “Piano Man”.Laurel and Sophia took the stage again with Sariah to show off their vocal range with “Before He Cheats”.Los Chicos performed Luke’s favorite song, “Canción del Mariachi”.César played us a couple of tunes, with vocal assistance from Sam and Kevin.To close out Coffee Haus, Jessie led us in a spirited round of Down By the Banks (in French). Tenley emerged victorious!
