In addition to great classroom sessions, our students continue to explore the museums, sights and marketplaces of Barcelona! We’re proud of them for the way they’ve made the most of the city.
– Team Barcelona
Students experienced a language immersion exploration in the Barrio Gotico de Barcelona (the Gothic Quarter). Our guide, Isaac, is a professional actor and a very animated guide. He told of the legends and history of the Gothic Quarter in a humorous and energetic way. Students learned about medieval Spanish architecture and construction, neo-gothic structures that appear to be from the gothic era, the Catholic monarchs and their feuds with the Catholic church, and the way older structures were impacted by bombings during the Spanish Civil War. Gracias, Isaac. Nicola and Isaac’s Spanish classes crowd around a friendly dog in the El Born neighborhood to give it some pets.Nicola’s Spanish class plays the TV Program-inspired game called “Pasapalabra” to review vocabulary from our time in the Gothic Quarter and the Catalan Music Palace (described above). We met at our new favorite cafe, Sweet Lima, in the El Born neighborhood where we conversed in Spanish with the Peruvian staff and even invited one of the baristas to participate in Pasapalabra with us to give students clues about the vocabulary.
