Market Day

Hola Dear Readers!

This week, our Fashion and Architecture seminars took a trip to Els Encants, a large flea market under a mirrored roof selling furnishings, clothes, antiques & much more!

Outside Els Encants flea market.

You can see the mirrored ceiling from the street! The mission for the day? To find artifacts and objects that would be interesting in some way to include in student’s final seminar projects.

The flea market has been running more or less continually since the 1300s. The roof structure was more modern, designed by the Spanish architect Fermin Vazquez.

Other than the visit to the flea market, students have spent days wandering Barcelona collecting inspiration, materials and other curios.

Now it’s studio time! Students are focusing on creating up-cycled fashion from thrift store finds and accessories by deconstructing and reconstructing flea market treasures from Els Encants.

Deep in concentration.

Hard at work, the creative energy is flowing!

Can’t wait to see what these Fashionistas come up with for their final projects!
