International Business & Marketing Meets with Sergio Miranda

On Tuesday, July 10th, students in the International Business & Marketing seminar met with Sergio Miranda, a local business owner who specializes in photography and retouching of images for major international brands (@sergiomirandafoto). Sergio shared his experiences growing up in Argentina and working and living abroad, especially in Spain and Bahrain. Sergio shared his advice regarding following your passion, creating your personal brand, and employing tools of technology (including social media) to build your business. The meeting took place at transforma bcn, a local co-working space, which itself provided opportunities for discussion of the future of work/business. Overall, students were thrilled to meet with a professional doing dynamic work in the modern global economy.

“Going to meet Sergio was a wonderful experience. I have never really known what I wanted to do once I go to college and what the right path is. Knowing that Sergio didn’t really know either, comforted me and made me feel as though I wasn’t the only one who felt like this. Listening to his story of how he got to where he is, reminded me of the fact that one should follow their passions for the right reasons. He was a genuine and down to earth person that I felt I could relate to and I hope to meet more people like him in the future to remind me that it’s OK to not know.” – Sophia M
